It has always been my desire to learn how to play the music of an artist from the musician who performed it.

This course is offered by the guitarist Jamie Glaser who played with Jean-Luc Ponty for many years.

The course covers several of Jean-Luc’s amazing compositions, with particular attention being afforded the guitar parts that Mr. Glaser played, whether during live performances or recording.

The layout of the course is superb and divided into chapters, with each chapter devoted to a specific Ponty composition. Each chapter contains videos, audio files, PDF files of the charts and even TAB for those who do not read music.

There is much to learn here whether you are a Ponty fan or not. You will learn the importance of time and proper note duration when playing. You will learn the importance of tone, with many tips and suggestions to find the kind of tone that Jean-Luc preferred, regardless of your equipment. Your technique , finger strength and general musical knowledge will improve, as has been the case with me.

My playing and practice time before taking the course was sporadic to say the least, but after becoming engaged with this course, I was inspired to make time and adhere to a regular schedule, which after more than 12 months of involvement, did improve my finger strength, technique and general knowledge of music.

The course is also interspersed with many firsthand experiences and anecdotes from Mr. Glaser, all of which lend a warmth and a heightened feeling of connection with both Jean-Luc and Mr. Glaser.

In addition, Mr. Glaser is very attentive and responds very quickly to any questions or concerns you may have. I have not experienced this with other courses I have taken in the past. Every part of the course includes an area for you to comment and connect with other students and Mr. Glaser. This is a huge bonus. To be able to discuss, share, help others with difficulties or to be helped, is invaluable and added greatly to the positive learning experience this has been for me.

This course truly has excellent value in so many ways and I would urge anyone to spend the money and time. You will not regret it.

I first of all want to extend my sincere Thank you to Jamie Glaser for putting together this Awesome course about the Music of Jean-Luc Ponty!!

How many professional musicians do you know who has taken a personal interest in his fans to offer an extensive course about the music

of a great artist like Jean-Luc Ponty? I first of all think that Jean-Luc is the greatest musician who ever lived. His innovations on electric violin

& his advanced technique make him one of the greatest musicians ever! The violin is one of the hardest instruments to learn & he is certainly a master of the violin.

Jamie has spent countless hours breaking down 17 chapters that analyze some of Jean-Luc's outstanding compositions!

Jamie gives us lessons within the chapters that help a guitarist improve his technique. He is great at breaking down the rhythms that help make the song rock & gives the students insights

into how Jean-Luc communicated with his band. Jean-Luc's music is very complex & Jamie did a wonderful job of helping to explain his works from a unique perspective.

This course is really a once in a lifetime opportunity for fans who love Jean-Luc's music.

Also-Jamie invited his students to join him & Jean-Luc in a hour long video conference where we were able to ask Jean-Luc questions about his music & career!!!

Can you think of any other professional musician who has taken the time to do this?

I cannot Thank Jamie & Jean-Luc enough for taking the time to visit with us!!...it has all been a very unique experience that I will remember for the rest of my life!

Jamie has gone over & above in constructing this course with his students & fans in mind. I feel so privileged to experience a music course about the greatest musician on the planet-Jean-Luc Ponty!!

Thank you again Jamie & Jean-Luc!!!

I am a violinist, an amateur violinist at that, having played a few years in the 80s and then restarted when I retired 2 1/2 years ago. Also, I have never played guitar.

So why in the world would I sign up for a guitar course?

First note I absolutely love the music of Jean-Luc Ponty. I honestly believe I have listened to Jean-Luc more than the Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Stones etc. Further, when I began violin lessons in the 80s it was because I was totally captivated by the music magic that Jean-Luc and his band played. It was both emotionally beautiful and intellectually exciting.

Nevertheless I was hesitant to sign up, I mean a would-be violinist in a guitar course? Really?!?!?

The answer is “Yep”, why not? I figured I could drop out in a month if it did not help.

Update - Since starting the course, I have never ever considered dropping it! It has been beyond my expectations! Most of the time, it is Jamie playing the same melody lines as Jean-Luc. The song selections include my favorites. The course has given me a vastly better understanding of how the compositions are pieced together and work as whole, of how the rhythms and instruments are layered together, and of the subtle background refrains that elevate the main melody and solos into something truly special.

Jamie also explains how to improvise and the techniques needed. He is gifted teacher. He reeks with sincerity and enthusiasm - it is real and he cares!

Most importantly, the focus is always on the music, and this makes this course something truly special!

I am still a year or two away from really utilizing this stuff, as my violin chops have not gotten to the point to where I can take full advantage of all the things Jamie has taught. But in the here and now, that is ok because the course has pushed my motivation and inspiration. My time practicing is increased significantly. Also, although my violin lessons are predominantly from the classical school, I have a much better sense of the particular skills I will need and why, for when I start playing Jean-Luc’s music

In summary, this course is really cool stuff! I love it!

Guitar and The Music of Jean Luc Ponty is a great course, highly recommended, fully enjoyable and an experience superseding other guitar training methods.

The class is taught by Jean Luc Ponty's guitarist of 40+ years, a Berklee-trained musical aficionado himself, Jamie Glaser, who graciously takes you on a journey into the genius of Jean Luc's musical creativity. Jamie is a well-known industry great playing to super large hundred-thousand people crowds and who also played with superlatives like Chick Corea, Lenny White, Bryan Adams, etc.

The course highlights 16 of Jean Luc's songs, one song per chapter, each chapter containing multiple videos of Jamie breaking down a song's guitar tracks into sections, background tracks, videos of special performances, music & chords charts, guitar theory and practice exercises - enough for you to gain a strong understanding of the composition or to keep you practicing until you can play along. The course is taught to prepare a student to play the guitar parts of each song or to help a producer or other musicians gain an understanding of what's involved. This course had me practicing for hours a day and has greatly increased my proficiency as a player. Other highlights include Jamie discussing his sound as he walks you through his amp settings.

There are many gems and insights offered but what I appreciated most was seeing Jamie's great admiration for Jean Luc Ponty as a virtuoso and how he brings to light the beauty of his music! I've been listening to JLP since 1980 and it's great to learn guitar by studying the music I've loved for so long. It's an amazing course!
